Jive - Gigs

Thursday 2nd September
THE CHECKS, Lyla, Jay Walker & The Pedestrians
The Checks were the complete package. Looking the part, sounding fantastic and clearly possessing songwriting abilities that allow them to stand out from the overcrowded indierockpop bottleneck that too often suffers from a lack of depth or longevity. - Faster Louder
THE CHECKS have enjoyed major success in their native New Zealand with the release of their debut album Alice By The Moon, along with two hit singles and a string of sell-out shows. It is now time for Australia to see what all the fuss is about, embarking on an album launch tour along the East Coast in September to coincide with the Australian release of Alice By The Moon on 2 September 2010.
The bands first single, You and Me received national airplay, embodying a dynamic psychedelic rock element, alluding to the likes of Kings of Leon and The White Stripes, with a twist of heavy soul and unrestrained rhythm sections that opened the floodgates for the likes of Gun Club and Black Lips.
Most recently, THE CHECKS have supported Black Rebel Motorcycle Club and AC/DC, toured Japan with The Hives, shared tour buses with Muse, opened for Oasis, and received a nomination as one of the five finalists for the inaugural Taite Music Prize.  Still only in their early 20s and already veteran performers and recording artists, THE CHECKS have played their way into becoming one of New Zealands most adrenalised, vital and consistently thrilling live acts. With rave reviews from their recent mini shows in Australia in April and on the cusp of returning to our shores, it seem as though their stellar reputation may soon jump continents, and see us Australians claiming THE CHECKS as our own.

Friday 3rd September
TRACER, Mammoth, The Vagrants
Tracer is proud and excited to announce that they have been handpicked to perform at this years prestigious Popkomm festival in Berlin, Germany in September. Popkomm is one of the biggest music industry events in the world and will allow Tracer the opportunity to showcase their own unique Australian style of dirty, sexy rock to the cream of the European and worldwide music community.
Popkomm festival is the live music segment of Popkomm and will take place at the Airport Berlin Tempelhof, from 8 10 September 2010. The festival will organize a limited number of showcases and events at 6 venues throughout the Airport Berlin Tempelhof, showcasing the best in musical talent from Europe and across the world.
September 3 at Jive, will be the last chance Adelaide audiences will have to farewell Tracer, before they embark for international waters, where they will spread their infectious grooves and pounding bass lines to the European masses, on their second European tour, including their performance at the prominent Popkomm festival.
The night will also see Tracer premiering a new single to the crowd at Jive, which they are currently recording for their Popkomm showcase. The new single brings out a more reflective, refined and unyielding sound to Tracers quickly growing repertoire, without losing their much loved sound.
Tracers imminent performance at Popkomm, ensures that September 3 at Jive will be a night that will not be quickly forgotten, as Tracer farewells their Adelaide fans and launch their new single. The night will also include a number of Tracer prize packs to be won, including copies of their latest album, L.A?

Sunday 5th September
DIANA ANAID, MONIQUE BRUMBY
Australian singer-songwriters Diana Anaid & Monique Brumby are artists who have seen it all in the music industry.
Having toured together in 2001, they struck up a frienship that sees them re-unite this year for their 'Love Is A Weapon' Tour, performing intimate acoustic shows that will engage audiences with new songs and quirky live collaboration.
Both Brumby & Anaid released their debut albums in 1997, both have record label and life experiences that make for great bed time stories for over 18's, as well as entertaining song writing and live performance banter. Both have forged careers in the cut-throat world of the music industry and by a strange yet synchronistic twist of fate, both women have just released their 4th studio albums. Fittingly they are touring nationally playing a string of double headline performances across Australia in August 2010.
