Stage Against the Machine

At the Reynella Enterprise & Youth Centre, we have been running an Open Mic Night program for about five years where local young musicians have an opportunity to play in front of a live audience, sometimes for the first time. This program is called Stage Against the Machine, which is an interesting name which some of the bands involved with the centre came up with a while back. The name reflects the impact that poker machines have had on the once vibrant live music culture in the southern area!

The guys in the program came up with the name because there are no longer opportunities to play live music because pokie lounges took over any space once used for bands!
We have a weekly get together of interested young people who want to help to put on these events, they get involved and help to run the events the way they want it run! It is an awesome group of really positive young people, their parents and other volunteers who give a heap of time to provide opportunities for young musicians as well as providing entertainment for local young people - we usually get about 150 people coming to see the bands.
All events are $5 at the door, all events are drug and alcohol free venue including the car park area. Doors open at 7pm till late All ages
