It’s the 2018 and the music industry, especially the way in which access and consume music is continually changing. In the space of just a few years, streaming platforms like Spotify and Apple Music quickly became the leading in which our modern society listens to music. With the rise of curated play-listing, the power of these providers as a platforms and now as tastemakers has grown considerably and is now challenging more cemented radio platforms like Triple J. But how does one get the attention of an organization like Spotify or Apple Music? How do you even get a song up on these streaming platforms? Are these platforms beneficial or detrimental to artists?
 
In this workshop, the realities of the world of streaming services and digital distribution, along with the ins and outs of online marketing will be laid out for discussion from the perspective of digital distributors, online music marketing experts, artist managers and artists, along with the variety of industry professionals involved in the digital world of streaming and marketing and how to make these digital platforms work for you.
