SCOUTED 2025

Artist Submissions – Terms and Conditions

  1. Introduction: Scouted is an initiative of MusicSA that aims to discover, promote, and provide opportunities for career development to emerging independent music artists operating predominantly outside the traditional framework of major record labels and publishers within South Australia. Scouted provides a platform for unsigned artists to gain exposure, recognition, and potential connections with national music industry professionals.
  2. Eligibility: To be eligible to apply for Scouted 2025, artists (bands, solo acts with performing members) must meet the following criteria:
    • Unsigned Status: The artist must not have a current, direct recording or exclusive publishing agreement with a major record label (Universal Music Australia, Sony Music Entertainment Australia, Warner Music Australia) or a major/large independent label with significant national and international distribution and marketing infrastructure. Artists may have existing management and/or booking agent representation.
    • Professional Performance Experience: The artist must have performed and been paid for live music performances in established venues or events.
    • Age Requirement: All performing members of the artist must be 18 years of age or older at the time of the event.
    • Geographical Limitation: The artist must be based in South Australia. For bands or acts with multiple members, at least 50% of the performing members must reside in South Australia, or the artist must demonstrably identify and promote themselves as a South Australian act.
    • Performance Rights Registration: The artist must be registered with a performance rights organisation such as APRA AMCOS or ONE MUSIC Australia.
    • Genre Inclusivity: Scouted is open to artists from all musical genres.
    • No Conflict of Interest: Artists with staff, board members, or immediate family members of judges or MusicSA staff are ineligible.

    • The total number of votes received by each artist from the judging panel will be tallied, with this tally informing the final selection of artists invited to showcase at Scouted 2025.
    • In the case of unclear results, an independent third-party industry person may be consulted to finalise the lineup.
    • The decisions of the judging panel are final, and no correspondence will be entered into regarding the outcome of individual applications.
