Music SA is proud to announce the return of Umbrella: Winter City Sounds, which is once again set to deliver warmth and vibrant activity to Adelaide through a diverse range of music performances across the CBD and metropolitan areas.
An open access contemporary music festival, Umbrella: Winter City Sounds kicks off from July 12 to 28, with registrations opening on March 18 via the event’s new website:
Presented by Music SA, Umbrella: Winter City Sounds celebrates the city’s thriving music scene and our world class standing as a UNESCO City of Music at a grass roots level.
Umbrella’s eclectic mix of music on offer in the very heart of winter helps to ensure Adelaide’s cultural explosion during Mad March extends to a year round calendar of festivals and events.
Music SA CEO Lisa Bishop is delighted that the South Australian Marshall Governmentis funding Umbrella for its fourth year through the ground breaking Live Music Events Fund.
“We’ve worked very hard to build a brand that musicians, audiences, venues and promoters can own and engage with to discover and experience live music throughout the city and suburbs,” she says.
Premier Steven Marshall says Adelaide is continuing to grow its reputation as a leading global UNESCO City of Music.
“With every year, the Umbrella: Winter City Sounds Festival keeps getting bigger and better. Many venues throughout the city and suburbs are brought to life with live music and lively crowds. I encourage everyone to soak up the atmosphere and enjoy the cultural experiences that this year’s festival promises to offer.” he says.
In a new innovation for the 2019 event, Music SA are partnering with Adelaide Fringe to create a new registration process that, along with the redesigned website, will make participation and ticketing much easier.
Interested musicians, venue managers, promoters and event managers are encouraged to attend one of the information sessions to be held at St Paul’s Creative Centre (cnr Pulteney and Flinders Streets) on Tuesday March 19 (6pm to 8pm) and Wednesday March 20 (10am to 2 pm). Details can be found on the Umbrella website, which is now live and set to take registrations from March 18.
