The New Yorks

The New Yorks are a four-piece indie rock band from Adelaide, South Australia. Their sound incorporates angular guitar work and hedonistic vocals, taking influence from the early 2000’s wave of garage and indie rock.

Their debut, ‘Heads of Tales’ was released in 2016, with the EP recorded at Chapel Lane, Mixmaster Productions and mastered by Jack the Bear at Deluxe Mastering Melbourne (British India, Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, Sticky Fingers).

Their upcoming EP, ‘I Wish I Was You, But That’s Just Me’ borrows greatly from east coast indie rock with a heavier garage undertone. The first single from the record, Sir Wolf, mastered by Joe Laporta (David Bowie, The Killers, Vampire Weekend, Foo Fighters, The Weeknd) was released on the 26th of April 2017.

“The New Yorks have given us such a variety in this EP. With Barbaro’s sing-me-to-sleep voice shifting to a raspy tone with a lot of edge, we hear his wide vocal range, and, along
with the skills of Marcus Rosella’s guitar playing, the whole band shows us their talent within each and every song.” – Ellen Prophet, AAA Backstage.

“The New Yorks are making self- assured angular rock” – Peter Lykouras, Tone Deaf.

The band have supported acts including Chet Faker, San Cisco, Hockey Dad, Magic Bones, Philadelphia Grand Jury & The Vanns.
