Last year we announced the creation of a new website that features the folk genre, for both music and dance, in Adelaide.

Folk MaD SA (aka Folk Music and Dance SA) is an online portal that includes a gig guide, directories for Clubs, Venues, Studios, Artists and more, plus an extremely handy calendar that covers all regular folk gatherings.

It’s free to list your details, including your performances and events, so get in on the ground floor. Head to http://folkmadsa.com/

Spearheaded by HATs Inc (Heritage, Arts, & Traditions), they saw a a gap in this area of promotion and support for Folk/Trad/Roots/World Music in SA and they “think it is important to preserve and promote our varied living musical traditions.

“The website will be inclusive and will list folk/traditional/roots, americana etc, a capella, community music, world music, dance events, and any form/event that identifies itself as folk/trad. We hope the SA public will embrace this digital marketing tool and look forward to getting your info/act listed on FolkMADSA.

The official launch is Friday 5 February at The Jade, from 5:30pm, and you are invited to come along to enjoy some refreshments, hear special guests say a few words, watch a projected demo of the site and of course hear some live music from guest artists.
