It’s been a whirlwind start to the year for Adelaide based producer Mario Späte aka Badcop, after being invited back to Sydney’s prestigious Industry song writing camp ’50 Songs in 5 Days’ a second time in December it’s lead to a slew for collaborations in 2017 including with ARIA winners Montagine and Megan Washington.
Recent recipient of the Jon Lemon Artist Fund, he has also collaborated with former Adelaide rapper, Allday, artist on the rise, Evan Klar and local talent, MANE, Flamingo and Nakatomi and is about to hit the studio with fellow Tkay Maidza collaborator LK McKay and Triple J darlings Heaps Good Friends.
‘A little over 2 years ago I had no idea about how this whole collaboration thing worked, I will be eternally grateful to Becc at Arts SA for putting me forward to participate in ’50 Songs in 5 Days’ because it stated me down a path I had no idea existed and, of course, to Leonie and Rob at Specific Music who organize ’50 Songs’ and are 2 of the nicest people you’ll ever meet in the industry, they, like Becc, change lives. The creation of the St.Pauls Creative center writing rooms is the thing Adelaide has been missing and I can’t wait to see how it grows and brings our artists together.’ – Mario
