Want to work in the music biz? Music SA is taking things on the road and partnering with Country Arts SA to deliver some FREE workshops for passionate young people 18+.
From 10am-4pm Saturday 13 June and 10am-12pm on Sunday 14 June in Mt Gambier, we will be presenting a contemporary music-related business workshop, “How to Make it in the Music Biz”, with real results.
The session is focused on creating a customised programme, and those in attendance will gain updated and renewed skills to enable them to go the next level in their project or career. There is even on-going mentoring available where needed. Topics include how the music industry works, how you fit in, new business models, event management, and more.
Places are limited in the Kings Floor, Main Corner Complex location, so register your interest via email ASAP. merilyn.denys@countryarts.org.au
AND, also on Sunday 14 June, you can join an APRA AMCOS session for FREE as well! From 12:30 – 4pm in the same locale, you’ll hear all about how APRA AMCOS can work for you as a songwriter, along with information on royalties and copyright.
Then you’ll be treated to a special songwriting presentation by Simon Basey from The Timbers, who will be looking at techniques, inspirations and examples. Through his role in The Timbers, Simon has performed at major festivals in nearly every state of Australia. His songs have been broadcast on radio stations across the world and shared line ups with some of Australia’s most successful musicians. Simon and The Timbers were proud recipients of the 2013 APRA AMCOS Emily Burrows Award.
RSVP is also essential for the APRA AMCOS session, so contact Matt Swayne 08 8331 5804 or mswayne@apra.com.au.
If you’re in Mt Gambier and interested in music, you need to be at these sessions.
