HELPMANN X INREVIEW ACADEMY MENTORSHIP

Do you have ambitions to be an arts reviewer, but don’t know where to begin?

The Helpmann Academy InReview Mentorship 2023 seeks to develop the next generation of arts reviewers and rebuild the practice of robust discourse and analysis of South Australian performing and visual arts.

The mentoring program, a partnership between Helpmann Academy and Solstice Media, will connect experienced arts writers with emerging voices, as part of a program to strengthen coverage of arts and culture in South Australia. This collaboration will be facilitated through InDaily sister site, InReview, the home of arts in SA. InReview publishes professional, rigorous and credible arts journalism and cultural commentary each weekday.

NATISMO X ABBEY ROAD INSTITUTE SCHOLARSHIP

The National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Music Office (NATSIMO), Abbey Road Institute Australia and Studios 301 are teaming up for a second year in a row to offer a fully-paid scholarship for the CUA60520 Advanced Diploma of Music course.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander music creators from across the country are encouraged to apply for the one year programme. 

Designed by industry for industry, the CUA60520 Advanced Diploma of Music Industry course aims to build a music professional’s capability in music production or sound engineering so they can take their career to the next level.

The successful applicant will have access to industry-standard equipment and studios throughout their studies and be taught by experts, including multi-award-winning guest speakers.

In-person study will take place between Studios 301 and Abbey Road Institute’s Sydney campus, with regular recording sessions at Studios 301, to ensure the participant has access to some of the best recording facilities in the world.

CITY OF PAE DOCKSIDE FESTIVAL

The City of Port Adelaide Enfield is excited to announce the hosting of major event Dockside Festival from Friday 9 to Sunday 11 December.

They are seeking expressions of interest for solo musicians to participate in the Dockside Festival on Saturday 10 December, from 12pm to 6pm and Sunday 11 December from 12pm to 4pm.

This is a paid opportunity – $200 for each 45 minute set – and interested musicians will play alongside the Port River, with the intention to connect the activation precincts at the British Hotel and Hart’s Mill for event visitors. A secondary location adjacent to the Visitor Information Centre on Commercial Road may also be programmed depending on the number of EOIs received.

First Nations artists and arts workers in South Australia can now connect with Arts South Australia’s staff and hear about current grant opportunities that support creative projects and professional development leading to employment, training, mentoring, development and presentation outcomes.

The See it LIVE Events Grants and Venue Improvement Grants are now fully subscribed. However, the Government of South Australia have announced that a second opportunity to register for a $400 e-voucher is now available for eligible business to host live music performances in their venues.

Get in quick! See it LIVE e-voucher registrations are now open and close at 12 noon on Wednesday 31 August, for activity until 31 October 2022.

A wide range of businesses looking to host live music acts—including pubs, clubs, bars, restaurants and cafes—may be eligible for this support.

CITY OF PROSPECT SUMMER BUSKING PROGRAM

City of Prospect’s Summer Busking and Street Entertainment Program provides a platform for local artists, musicians and entertainers to connect with Prospect community and showcase their talent and unique skills.

This initiative aims to support our creative community by providing performance opportunities and generating income for artists. City of Prospect encourages performers from all backgrounds, ages, abilities and mediums to apply for a busking permit and showcase their craft on set days and times on Prospect Road during summer.

Entertainment may be provided through playing an instrument, singing, reciting, juggling, puppetry, miming, dancing, comedy, magic, chalk art and drawing or painting a picture on paper or canvas.

Approved buskers are permitted to receive donations, as well as a one-off honorarium payment of $150 to get started and Council will provide public insurance cover for all uninsured buskers.

LIVE MUSIC AUSTRALIA

The Live Music Australia program is a competitive grants opportunity for small to medium sized venues that support quality original Australian live music.

Eligible activities:

  • Funding is available for activities that support your festival to be able to proceed in 2023. Activities should be designed to enhance the quality of audience experience by making it increasingly accessible to all patrons and delivering to more diverse audiences.

Grants may support activities including, but not limited to:

  • purchasing / hiring essential equipment for staging performances (such as PA, lighting)
  • carrying out small building alteration work to enable live music performance (such as sound attenuation, disability access), if the infrastructure is owned by the festival organisation e.g. a permanent festival site
  • live music programming and promotion, including artist fees and technical staff
  • professional development, including upskilling venue staff
  • adaptive ideas or capacity building that supports the festival to be more accessible, safe and present diverse Australian live music and improve regional touring circuits
  • administration costs directly related to the festival including insurances directly related to the live music event
  • marketing to engage core audience as well as identify and implement special initiatives to improve audience diversity
  • dedicated new stage areas to create inclusive safe spaces for performers and audiences, including youth, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, women, gender diverse artists and artists with disability.

Harvest Rock volunteer applications are now open!

It’s electric, diverse, it’s dinner and dessert. HARVEST ROCK. A music festival like you have never tasted before.

Harvest Rock Volunteers will work approx. 10-12 hours over 2 shifts. Assisting in many key areas such as Décor, Gates, Wristbanding, Staffing & Volunteers.

All volunteers must be over the age of 18.

The only criteria to becoming a Harvest Rock Volunteer is a good attitude and a great work ethic.
