nicaragua nights
*****
Why beat around the bush? I’m just going to say it up front: Nicaragua Nights is amazing. It’s sonic art at its finest. The audio textures work in harmony and the songs are very well constructed. Production is 100% and I expect no less from Oisima, as the guy is a sound visionary. He knows exactly what sound he wants and knows how to get it.
I love the track ‘Makes Me Feel Alright’ featuring the gorgeous vocals of Annabel Weston. It just all works well. It’s really easy on the ear to listen to, but it also has enough momentum to keep you listening. The vocals fit the style of music perfectly. This whole LP is an audio adventure and it’s so easy to get lost in the music. It’s an absolute pleasure to listen to.
The cover picture sums up this LP perfectly. Oisima has taken a blank audio canvas and created audio art on it. I love it how selective Oisima has been with the choosing of guest artists who perform on his LP. This includes Danny Watts, Sam Al, Mei Seraswati, as well as the previously-mentioned Annabel Weston.
Just go and buy this album. Get comfy in your happy place, put your feet up and let Oisima immerse you in his artistic soundscapes and melodic audio patterns. It’s one of those albums that you just have to own.
