MusicSA extends a warm welcome to three new additions to the team; Blake Gilchrist as Industry Development Manager, Sebastian James as Industry Development Coordinator and Christina Lauren as Marketing Assistant. The three will be joining the team in our new East End office space, Shop 4 Cinema Place, Adelaide SA 5000.

Blake Gilchrist will be sharing his years of industry experience with the South Australian music community in his new position as Industry Development Manager. Two-decade veteran of the national music industry, Blake is originally from Adelaide and worked extensively interstate before returning to SA just as the borders shut due to the pandemic. He is a respected major event producer, festival curator and advocate for the industry. Blake is currently the Festival Producer for Vintage Vibes and a Board Director for the ALMBC, and has just finished up as the Executive Music Producer for Adelaide Festival of Arts. He has worked extensively across all facets of the industry including events, festivals, touring, venues, bookings, artist management, licensing and licensees, marketing. He is passionate about sharing his knowledge and mentoring up-and-comers, supporting the local industry to grow and succeed and championing the strong talent in South Australia.

Joining Blake in the MusicSA Industry Development team, Sebastian James is taking on his new role as Industry Development Coordinator. Originally from regional SA, Sebastian understands how hard it can be to learn about the industry from outside of Adelaide and what regional support MusicSA can provide. He started out as a songwriter and performer and currently works as Artist Manager for 27 Music, representing artists such as Molly Rocket, The Tullamarines, Don’t Bring Stacey, Teenage Joans, TOWNS and rising new talent Estee. His current band projects include Pinkish Blu, The Mondays and a new project, Haliday. Sebastian works with booking agents, venues, events, publishers, labels and media and has strong networks nationally that will benefit local artists and businesses.

Christina Lauren is our final addition for today’s announcement, coming on board in the capacity of Marketing Assistant. Christina is an accomplished creative industry professional, with experience in roles across marketing, events and curation at a range of music and arts organisations (such as Carclew, Part Time Records and SALA). She has also worked in music publicity as a junior publicist with Against the Grain, as well as a visual arts correspondent for Verse Magazine. Christina’s love of music led her to manage local band Stripes during her Women In Music Mentorship program. Outside of work her personal passions also lie in arts and music, creating works as a visual artist and immersing herself in the South Australian music scene.

MusicSA CEO Christine Schloithe states:

“I am delighted with the new appointments to the MusicSA team! Blake, Sebastian and Christina are all highly respected industry professionals with great networks and a wealth of skill and experience between them. These new staff members now complete the new staffing structure for MusicSA for the next few years and will help us achieve valuable industry development and advocacy outcomes for our incredible South Australian contemporary music sector.”

We can’t wait to continue to share our music advocacy and industry development journey with you all. For more details you can reach out to us via email on info@musicsa.com.au.
