Scouted 2021 will be held at Lion Arts Factory on Friday 8 Oct as part of the 2021 Umbrella Festival curated program (now extended till October 17 2021 in response to the most recent South Australian lockdown). Scouted mini-festival includes performances from five-piece indie-pop outfit Bermuda Bay, happy/sad surf-pop trio Don’t Bring Stacey, Adelaide’s electrifying neo-psych outfit The Empty Threats, First Nations hip hop duo LBG, indie-pop sweethearts Mum Friends, and femme indie-rock group Oscar The Wild.

Scouted exists to put local artists on a larger platform, amplify their voices and provide them with new and exciting opportunities! Music SA, GM, Kim Roberts is passionate about the tangible results that we hope to see, and have seen in the past, for local artists as a result of Scouted;

“Each year, our Scouted event delivers genuine business outcomes for South Australian musicians. In the past this has included signings by publishers, artist managers and bookers, as well as programming at major festivals, being added to radio rotation and being selected to support national touring artists,”

While Scouted 2020 couldn’t go ahead in its usual format due to COVID, Scouted 2019 helped to facilitate some impressive results for the artists that performed! Elsy Wameyo went on to form incredible connections nationally and is now a party of Music In Exile, Glowing picked up support slots for Spacey Jane, WAAVES, RAT!hammock and Cry Club, and Jess Day was featured on ABC News, signed with Select Music and was selected for the BIGSOUND50 in 2020.
Furthermore, Pinkish Blu went on to support G Flip and Odette nationally, as well as signing with Sony Australia, Ricky Albeck & The Belair Line Band signed with Swirl Records, Stellie signed with Unified for management and performed at the inaugural Summer Sounds festival. TOWNS had a record number of performances (a massive 9 showcases!) at BIGSOUND 2019, supported Dear Seattle on a national tour, supported Ruby Fields on a national tour, performed at Yours & Owls Festival and Summer Sounds in 2021, and also has an upcoming national tour with Ocean Grove!
