For her first ever Fringe show, Adelaide vocalist Racheal Leahcar brings the best of her collection to the Salisbury Secret Garden along with good mate Kylie Brice. It’s also a day before The Voice finalist’s 22nd birthday!
A legally blind singer/songwriter, Rachael is a classical / contemporary crossover able to sing in English, French, Italian and Spanish, and she also enjoys playing the piano, flute and guitar.
Since appearing on The Voice‘s 1st season, she’ notched up some impressive milestones for her young age, including a record deal with Universal Music, singing with Andrea Bocelli’s orchestra in Italy, and creating three top 10 ARIA charting albums.
Rachael’s Fringe show will showcase songs from these releases, with her captivating vocals and emotion-filled content.
She says, “I planned to do a show in the 2012 Fringe Festival but had to cancel due to getting through the Blind Auditions in The Voice. Since then I’ve been travelling, performing, releasing albums and enjoying all the exciting opportunities that have come my way. I have been working on new music for a while but I first want to show people the musical road I’ve walked down over the past few years before I release my new sound to the world.”
As a special bonus, she will be presenting samples of her next album for the first time publicly, before officially starting a new chapter in her musical journey.
Rachael will be supported by local rising star and singer/songwriter, Kylie Brice, who herself has been prolific of late and is soon to launch her own new EP, Broken and Beautiful. The gals have a good range of merch in tow – from CDs, posters to handmade jewelry and light up pens! Watch them explain what to expect at the show in a promo video.
In the meantime, you can also enjoy a recent offering from Rachael’s YouTube channel, where she pays tribute to an artist who has inspired her and many others, David Bowie:
