DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION COURSE

DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION FOR THE CREATIVE INDUSTRIES | SEE MORE

Digital Transformation for the Creative Industries is an online short course designed specifically for artists and arts creative workers. It is best suited for those with a beginner or intermediate understanding of the digital space as it relates to the creative industries.

Developed and delivered in collaboration with the University of Technology Sydney (UTS), this six-week course will give you an insight into key digital concepts, modes of digital practice, emergent technologies and also introduce ideas around digital strategy and business model innovation.

You will join a cohort of industry peers and colleagues working in different artforms across Australia to understand, explore and shape your thinking around digital. Key topics include:

  • Understanding key digital concepts
  • Digital practices for the arts
  • Digital transformation strategy
  • Digital leadership
  • Digital business models
  • Demystifying emerging technologies.

This six-week course requires a commitment of up to four hours a week, and is a combination of facilitated sessions, online group learning and self-directed activities that can be directly applied to your existing work and practice.

AIR WOMEN IN MUSIC MENTORSHIP

WOMEN IN MUSIC MENTOR PROGRAM | SEE MORE

The Women in Music Mentor program is a four-year nation-wide mentoring and training program aimed at empowering women in the Australian music industry. The program will run once a year from 2020 to 2023 and is designed to enable women to navigate their career and leadership pathways, develop professional decision making, governance, commercial and corporate engagement skills.

With a focus on developing skills in contract negotiation, financial literacy, marketing and leadership, the program will pair mentees with mentors based on the goals the mentee wishes to achieve. Mentors commit to conducting meetings with their mentees and providing mentees with guidance and practical advice over the duration of the program to help them take their careers to the next level.

In addition to the mentorship, the Women in Music Mentor program will deliver professional development training opportunities, for mentors and mentees. This will include workshops with industry professionals and leaders.

THE UNIFIED GRANT

UNIFIED CREATIVE PROJECTS FUNDING | SEE MORE

The UNIFIED Grant will award $5,000 AUD in funding to five creative projects, led by five inspiring individuals or groups who influence positive, meaningful and sustainable change.

This comes as UNIFIED Music Group celebrates a milestone 20 years in the music business, and will contribute to UNIFIED’s mission of building an ecosystem for creative talent to thrive.

The grant is inspired by UNIFIED’s bedroom beginnings as Boomtown Records, to its stake as one of Australia’s largest independent music companies now offering a full suite of artist and music services from its offices in Melbourne, Sydney, Los Angeles and London.

ARTS AND DISABILITY INITIATIVE

AUSTRALIAN COUNCIL FOR THE ARTS GRANTS | SEE MORE

The Australia Council for the Arts is offering six grants of $30,000.

If you are an artist or arts worker with disability, these grants can provide support for significant projects to extend your arts practice, networks, skills, and ambition.

Your project should be ambitious, bold, and innovative. It should enhance your career and work, and strengthen your networks. It must include a clear plan with the steps you will take to achieve your goals. It must also outline the structure and support you will put in place for your development to take your career or practice to the next level.

#YOUTUBEBLACK VOICES FUND

In 2020, YouTube launched the #YouTubeBlack Voices Fund, a multi-year commitment dedicated to spotlighting and growing Black creators and music on our platform, by giving them access to resources to help them thrive on YouTube.

Since 2020, they’ve welcomed over 300 grantees hailing from the United States, Kenya, the United Kingdom, Brazil, Australia, South Africa, and Nigeria. This incredible group includes musicians, beauty entrepreneurs, comedians, activists, poets, personal trainers, parents, photographers, gamers and more.

SEE IT LIVE GRANTS

LIVE MUSIC GRANTS AND E-VOUCHERS | SEE MORE

See it LIVE is a $10 million package that will get local musicians and performers back on stage through a range of support programs for live music and hospitality venues, promoters and more.

New voucher and grant schemes will get live entertainment back in venues and support performers, live music events and festivals. Initiatives around mental health support for the industry, cancellation fund for major ticketed events and a Live Music Advisory Council will bolster this industry in our state.

See it LIVE supports live music acts and venues and helps the industry stay viable, by providing more opportunities for artists and revitalising South Australia’s night-time economy.

There are three initiatives available:

  • Registration for 5000 See it LIVE e-vouchers worth $400 each for live music and hospitality venues to host live music. The vouchers will help music acts get back into pubs, clubs, small bars, restaurants, cafes and other smaller venues.
  • See it LIVE Event Grants available for SA-based promoters, organisations and businesses, to help meet costs including engaging musicians and technicians, marketing and promotion costs and ensuring the event is COVID-19 safe. There will be 100 grants of $5,000, 25 grants of $20,000, and five grants of $50,000 available for activity until December 2023.
  • Venue Improvement Grants, a $1 million scheme of 200 grants of $5,000 each to allow eligible venues to upgrade so they can cater for live music performances. This could assist with modifying layouts to allow for a small stage, create better viewing spaces for audiences, improve acoustics or upgrade sound systems including mixing equipment, speakers and PA systems.

PROJECT GRANTS – REGIONAL ARTS FUND

The Regional Arts Fund is an ongoing program that provides approximately $3.6 million per year to support artists and communities in regional and remote areas. The Regional Arts Fund is part of the Australian Government’s Arts and Cultural Development Program that supports participation in, and access to, Australia’s arts and culture through developing and supporting cultural expression.

The Regional Arts Fund is managed by Regional Arts Australia on behalf of the Australian Government. You can apply for Project Grants of up to $30,000. There is no minimum grant amount.

NATIONAL ARTS AND DISABILITY AWARDS

AUSTRALIAN COUNCIL FOR THE ARTS AWARDS | SEE MORE

The Australia Council National Arts and Disability Awards 2022-24 celebrate the work and achievements of d/Deaf artists and artists with disability. The Awards acknowledge the contribution these artists have made to the creative arts and cultural life of the nation.

Award Categories:

  • The National Arts and Disability Award (Established) celebrates the achievements of an established Australian artist whose outstanding and sustained contribution to their chosen field of arts practice has been recognised nationally or internationally. The recipient of this award will receive $50,000.
  • The National Arts and Disability Award (Early Career) recognises an Australian artist in the first ten years of their practice who has made an outstanding contribution to their chosen field of practice. The recipient of this award will receive $20,000

The Awards are decided by the Board of the Australia Council, informed by key industry advisors. Nominations close Tuesday 2 August 2022, 3pm (AEST)

SKILLS DEVELOPMENT ASSISTANCE GRANTS

COUNTRY ARTS ASSISTANCE PROGRAM | SEE MORE

Country Arts SA’s Skills Development Assistance Grants are available to support artists and arts workers to participate in professional development opportunities by contributing to travel and accommodation costs associated with the opportunity.

The grants are fast-turnaround and are intended for those who wish to undertake a time sensitive skills development opportunity such as workshops, conferences, seminars, work experience, masterclasses, attending performances/exhibitions etc.

The Skills Development Assistance Grants open each year in mid-January and close mid-December (unless funds are expended prior).

The following activities are considered skills development opportunities:

  • participation in courses, residencies, workshops etc;
  • mentorships with a professional artist whose practice is suitable to your development;
  • attending a conference, masterclass, seminar, performance, exhibition etc;
  • work experience, internship or volunteer role;
  • the engagement of a professional artist (or artists) to run workshops or deliver a presentation in your community – in this instance the grant will be used to cover the travel and accommodation costs of the artist/s that have been engaged, rather than the applicant.

GLOBAL MUSIC MATCH 2022

SOUNDS AUSTRALIA ARTIST CALLOUT | SEE MORE

2020 saw the introduction of Global Music Match, a world-first collaboration created by founding partners Sounds Australia, Showcase Scotland Expo, English Folk Expo and East Coast Music Association (ECMA), along with myriad export organisations and showcase events from around the world.

96 artists from 14 countries participated in the first edition, with 74 artists from 17 countries taking part in the second edition, each taking turns in being spotlighted through a series of interviews, live sets, unreleased material and exclusive collaborations.

Through social media and peer-to-peer collaboration, Global Music Match advanced opportunities and networks internationally, encouraged cross-border artist collaboration by connecting musicians from around the world, and created new audiences in a range of international locations, providing the groundwork for future international touring development.

Applications are now open for artists interested in taking part in the third edition of Global Music Match. You have until Friday July 29 to apply for the 14-week, artist driven, intensive program which commences on Thursday September 1.
