MusicSA is excited to announce that Gareth Lewis (Adelaide Beer & BBQ Festival, UniBar Adelaide) will join the team as the new Program Manager – Special Projects.

Gareth brings 20 years of experience in the events and hospitality industries to the role, including curating and directing much-loved homegrown festivals HomeBrewed and Beer & BBQ Festival. Gareth is also the current co-owner of recent SA Music Hall of Fame inductee UniBar Adelaide, which champions local music on a weekly basis.

In 2023, MusicSA will be actioning a newly developed strategic plan that will work towards building, activating, and strengthening South Australia’s music sector for the next three years. MusicSA’s new Program Manager will ensure the 2023 event and festival program is aligned with the key vision of this strategic plan.

Gareth Lewis has managed and booked live music venues around South Australia, graduating to owning multiple venues through General Admission Entertainment. Gareth helped bring dozens of major touring festivals to life in Adelaide with GA Entertainment including Parklife, Soundwave and Groovin’ The Moo, whilst curating many of their own events, from HomeBrewed Festival to A Day on the Cans. Gareth is co-owner of the recently SA Music Hall of Fame-inducted UniBar ADL and Co-founder, Booker and Event Director of Adelaide Beer & BBQ Festival – now the largest hybrid event of its type in Australia.

Gareth states:

“MusicSA is more vital now than ever in the landscape of music in our state. Having worked across many facets of the music industry in the past 20 years I am looking forward to bringing some of that experience to the team and growing the footprint of MusicSA by growing audiences and creating opportunities for artists. We have great bands, great venues and talented people in the music industry here in Adelaide and I am excited to continue to be a part of it.”

MusicSA CEO Christine Schloithe states:

“We’re delighted Gareth is joining the growing team at MusicSA to head up our event and festival programs and activity. Gareth brings a wealth of experience and expertise with him and is genuinely passionate about championing local artists and the local industry. As the industry continues to recover from the pandemic, Gareth’s focus on connecting artists, audiences, venues and businesses will further help MusicSA to promote and support our local music ecology and create new opportunities to showcase what we do best.”
