Last night, Thursday 7 Nov 2024, MusicSA was proud to present the 2024 South Australian Music Awards at the iconic Dom Polski Centre on Kaurna Yerta.

Punters arrived from 6pm dressed to the nines for the pre-ceremony red carpet event. Drinks, food, photos and fashion filled the foyer of Dom Polski, as guests spilled into the ballroom for the ceremony, local DJ SVVLO kicked off the celebrations for the evening.

Local legends West Thebarton were the first act to perform, bringing their dynamic energy to the stage. The Welcome to Country was then given by Kaurna, Narungga, Ngarrindjeri, Ngadjuri and Arrente man Cliffy ‘Tangku Munaitya’ Wilson. MusicSA would like to thank Cliffy again for his Welcome to Country and for sharing his presence and culture with us for the 2024 SA Music Awards on Kaurna Yerta.

Gracing the stage was none other than Guy Sebastian, who performed some of his most iconic songs, as well as being inducted into the AMC Music Hall of Fame on the evening.

Guy Sebastian says “Being inducted into the South Australian Music Hall Of Fame is a huge honour to say the least! Adelaide will always be home to me, it has given me so much in life. I love the people, the culture, the food, and of course my family and lifelong mates. All of these things combined have allowed me to dream but also remember what matters in life. The recognition from Music SA for the past twenty years of my achievements in music, and my early work in Music Education in Adelaide, is seriously humbling and something of which I am very proud. To join legends such as Cold Chisel, Paul Kelly, Masters Apprentices & Humphrey B Bear is beyond any aspirations for my life in music. This industry is tough at times but also so exciting because you never know where your art is going to take you next, but right now, in this moment to have this honour means more than you will ever know. Thank you!

Throughout the night, local artists My Chérie and Sons of Zoku performed unforgettable sets, displaying some of the unique and cutting-edge talent South Australia has to offer.

The 2024 SA Music Awards were hosted by Triple J’s Home and Hosed’s Ash McGregor and Adelaide local man-about-town Henry Doyle. Ash, known for championing up-and-coming Aussie talent on a national stage, brought her infectious passion for local music to the night. Henry Doyle, with his wit and charm, brought an entertaining and memorable experience for all in attendance.

Of course, though the live performances of the evening were a highlight, the awards presented are a testament to the vast, diverse, skilled and undeniable talent South Australia holds in its music industry, and this was clear to all present as each award finalist and winner was announced. A key highlight was aleksiah’s huge four awards win! A special thank you also to The Note for capturing interviews and special moments with the winners and sponsors behind the scenes during the ceremony.

MusicSA’s CEO Christine Schloithe says “The South Australian Music Awards celebrate the exceptional music talent we have in this state and the businesses and individuals that support our incredible local artists. This year’s Award Nominees and Finalists truly showcase the diversity and creativity that make South Australia’s music scene so unique and the night will be rounded out by performances by DJ SVVLO, West Thebarton, My Chérie and Sons Of Zöku.”
