The Board of MusicSA is committed to the endorsement of a ‘yes’ vote in the upcoming referendum on enshrining in the Constitution, an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Voice to recognise the First Peoples of Australia.
The Voice will be an independent, representative advisory body for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, which will be empowering, community-led, inclusive, respectful and culturally informed.
It will provide a permanent means to advise the Australian Parliament and Government on the views of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples on matters that affect them across a myriad of sectors, including the arts and music industries.
The referendum vote will give all Australians the chance to come together and consider an addition to our constitution that will recognise and acknowledge the ongoing relationship with First Nations peoples.
It’s a chance for all to make a major positive impact now and for future generations and we encourage everyone to take their time and deeply consider their opportunity to have a say in this generational moment to shape the future of our country.
